SFMOMA Free Family DaySunday, Oct. 25 · 10 a.m.–4 p.m. · free general admission for children/teens and up to two accompanying adults · early RSVP encouraged.

SAN FRANCISCO — SFMOMA’s next Free Family Day is Sunday, Oct. 25, with museumwide family activities, two K-pop dance sessions, San Francisco Public Library storytimes, art making, yoga and a scavenger hunt.

The event runs 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and SFMOMA encourages families to reserve tickets early because capacity can fill.

Who gets into SFMOMA free on Oct. 25?

Children and teenagers 18 and younger are always free at SFMOMA.

For Free Family Day, up to two adults receive free general admission when accompanied by a visitor 18 or younger. Adults arriving without a child or teen need ordinary museum admission.

Is the RM exhibition also free?

No. Free Family Day admission covers the museum except RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me.

Adults who want to enter that exhibition need a separate $12 timed ticket. Visitors 18 and younger remain free but also need a reserved timed-entry ticket for the exhibition. SFMOMA says the RM tickets will be sold on-site at the Floor 2 ticket desk on a first-come, first-served basis with limited capacity.

For background on that exhibition, see SF News Today’s RM x SFMOMA ticket guide.

What time are the K-pop and family activities?

10:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.Mindful yoga for families
11 a.m. and 1 p.m.Storytime with SFPL

Other all-day activities include art making with SCRAP, a book raffle, a scavenger hunt and a Kim Whanki-inspired dot-painting activity.

Do you need an RSVP?

SFMOMA describes the day as free with RSVP and says early reservation is encouraged because the event may reach capacity. Its Free Days page says Free Family Day tickets are generally released two weeks in advance.

How do you get to SFMOMA?

SFMOMA is at 151 Third Street, within walking distance of Montgomery and Powell BART/Muni stations and two blocks from the Transbay Transit Center. The museum’s garage is at 147 Minna Street.

For a high-attendance free day, transit avoids the uncertainty of downtown garage capacity.
