SAN FRANCISCO — RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me opens to the public Saturday, Oct. 3, bringing works from BTS member RM’s personal collection into conversation with works from SFMOMA.
The most important thing for visitors is the ticket rule: ordinary SFMOMA general admission does not provide access to the exhibition.
Visitors need an RM x SFMOMA + General Admission timed ticket.
When does RM x SFMOMA open?
The public opening is Saturday, Oct. 3. The exhibition runs through Feb. 7, 2027 on Floor 7.
SFMOMA is holding member previews Oct. 1–3 before the full public opening.
The museum says weekday tickets are widely available from Oct. 5 onward and most weekends remain available except the first few Saturdays, making advance booking particularly important near opening weekend.
Do regular SFMOMA tickets include RM x SFMOMA?
No. SFMOMA specifically warns visitors that a regular general-admission ticket does not grant access to Between You and Me.
The correct ticket is the timed RM x SFMOMA + General Admission option. Timed entry is required because the exhibition has limited capacity.
A limited number of same-day exhibition tickets may become available at the Floor 2 ticket desk, but SFMOMA recommends advance online purchase.
How much does RM x SFMOMA cost?
Standard SFMOMA adult admission is currently $30. The RM exhibition adds a $10 surcharge on weekdays and $12 on weekends and holidays.
That makes a standard adult Saturday visit $42 before any applicable discount.
Members and visitors 18 and younger do not pay the exhibition surcharge, although they still need the appropriate timed reservation. SFMOMA is also selling a $75 Encore Pass for repeat visits during the exhibition’s run.
How many works are in the exhibition?
SFMOMA describes Between You and Me as bringing together nearly 150 works from RM’s personal collection with works from the museum’s collection.
The museum’s broader material describes the exhibition as approaching 200 works in total. The clearest way to reconcile those figures is that nearly 150 come from RM’s collection, with additional SFMOMA works creating the larger exhibition.
Where is RM x SFMOMA?
SFMOMA is at 151 Third Street, and the RM exhibition is on Floor 7.
The museum is within walking distance of both Montgomery and Powell BART/Muni stations. The Salesforce Transit Center is about two blocks away.
SFMOMA is open 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, noon–8 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and closed Wednesday.
Where can you park?
SFMOMA’s garage is at 147 Minna Street. Current posted rates are $4 per 30 minutes, $26 for up to 10 hours and $35 for up to 24 hours. SFMOMA offers parking validation discounts subject to its current conditions.
Is the exhibition already sold out?
SFMOMA has not said the public run is sold out. Its current exhibition page says weekday availability is broad from Oct. 5 onward and most weekends remain available, while the first few Saturdays are tighter.
That is a reason to reserve early for opening weekend, not evidence that Oct. 3 is completely sold out.
What should you book?
If your purpose is specifically to see RM’s exhibition, do not buy a standalone general-admission ticket by mistake.
Look for the ticket labeled RM x SFMOMA + General Admission, select a timed entry slot and arrive by that time. SFMOMA says re-entry to the RM exhibition itself is not allowed.
Visitors making a downtown arts day of the trip can also see Saype’s giant Beyond Walls fresco taking shape at Yerba Buena Gardens Oct. 5–7.
