SAN FRANCISCO — Labor Day weekend at The Midway is not one concert and one crowd. The Dogpatch/Central Waterfront venue is scheduled to move through six events across four consecutive days, with an approved public-street closure layered over the busiest part of the weekend.
AXS currently lists the run beginning Friday evening with Black Tiger Sex Machine and Kai Wachi, followed by a late-night Costa event. Saturday brings Electroluxx Pride Party and a separate DJ Holographic event. Sunday is R&B and Ribs. Monday closes the sequence with Hiero Day.
For ticket holders, the schedule determines when to arrive. For nearby residents and drivers, the more useful information may be which streets close, how long the closure lasts and why parking around 900 Marin Street is likely to be difficult.

Which streets are closing around The Midway?
This time, “block party” is not merely a marketing label.
ISCOTT approved The Midway’s 2026 block-party closure for Marin Street between Illinois Street and its easterly terminus and Michigan Street between Cesar Chavez Street and Marin Street. The intersection of Michigan and Marin is closed, with local access allowed on Michigan via Cesar Chavez and on Marin via Illinois.
For Labor Day weekend, the approved closure runs from 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4 through 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7. The ISCOTT minutes record the block-party schedule as approved 6–0.
That timing means the streets begin closing two hours before Friday’s first listed event and remain restricted continuously through Sunday night.
The closure overlaps with the northbound US-101 shutdown
There is a second transportation complication nearby. Caltrans plans to fully close northbound US-101 through Hospital Curve from 11 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday.
The freeway closure and The Midway street closure are separate projects. Marin and Michigan are not the official Caltrans detour.
They matter together because drivers approaching the Central Waterfront from the Peninsula or South Bay can encounter a major regional detour at the same time local streets around the venue are restricted. How big can a Midway event be?
The Midway’s venue materials describe a roughly 40,000-square-foot complex with a full-venue capacity around 3,000 people.
That does not mean each event will draw 3,000 people, and it would be misleading to add six event listings together and call that the weekend attendance. Different events can use different spaces and capacities.
The number is useful for scale: even one large event can create substantial rideshare, pedestrian and parking demand on streets that normally carry much lighter evening activity.
Should you drive to The Midway?
The venue itself warns that parking around The Midway is extremely limited during block parties and strongly recommends rideshare or transit.
That advice is especially relevant this weekend because the usual street supply is reduced by the approved closure. An industrial-looking curb should not be assumed legal simply because it appears empty; posted restrictions still control.
What public transit goes to 900 Marin Street?
The most direct rail option is the T Third Muni Metro line, which stops at Third Street and Marin Street, about two blocks from the venue. The 15 Bayview Hunters Point Express also serves Third and Marin.
The Midway also identifies the 48 Quintara/24th Street, 19 Polk and 10 Townsend as nearby options, depending on the rider’s origin. A Bay Wheels station near the venue provides another alternative for some trips.
Monday is different from Friday through Sunday because Muni operates its Labor Day weekend schedule using Sunday operators. What should Dogpatch residents expect?
The strongest effect is concentrated around Marin, Michigan, Illinois and the immediate venue approaches. Residents with local access are not being told that the entire Dogpatch neighborhood is closed, and the ISCOTT order specifically preserves local access through identified streets.
What is reasonable to expect is a recurring wave of arrivals and departures at very different hours: Friday evening into late night, Saturday afternoon through late night, Sunday afternoon and Monday afternoon.
Rideshare pickup activity can also extend beyond the formal street-closure boundary as drivers look for legal places to stop.
Why the four-day sequence matters
The search value here is not simply “Who is playing at The Midway Friday?” The weekend creates several overlapping questions: which event is today, where can I park, which streets are closed, does the US-101 shutdown affect my route, and does Muni run normally on Labor Day?
Putting those answers in one place is more useful than treating each event as an isolated calendar listing.
