SAN FRANCISCO — The Presidio's annual Chuseok Festival returns Saturday, Sept. 26, bringing Korean food, music, performances, cultural activities, games and community organizations to the Main Parade Lawn.
The Presidio lists the eighth annual festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and describes it as Northern California's largest public celebration of Korean culture. Admission is free and the event is open to all ages.
What is at the Presidio Chuseok Festival?
Korean Center, Inc., the organizer, describes a large community celebration with live performances, Korean food, traditional and contemporary cultural activities, games, local vendors and youth programming.
The organizer says the festival draws thousands of people. Visitors should expect an active public lawn event rather than a seated show with one fixed program.
Where is the Chuseok Festival?
The festival is on the Main Parade Lawn in the Presidio. The Presidio event listing uses 105 Montgomery Street, San Francisco for the location.
This is a different Chuseok celebration from the Ferry Building-area Chuseok event covered earlier by SF News Today. The Presidio festival has its own date, venue and organizer.
How do you get there by Muni?
The Presidio recommends the 43 Masonic, which serves the Presidio Transit Center. From there, the Main Parade Lawn is nearby.
The free Presidio GO shuttle also serves the Transit Center, providing another option from downtown and other Presidio stops.
Is there parking?
Yes, but it is paid parking. The Presidio lists paid parking near the Main Parade Lawn and does not describe a free event-specific parking lot.
Because the festival can draw thousands of visitors, anyone driving should allow time to find a legal paid space and walk to the lawn. Transit is likely to be simpler during the busiest part of the afternoon.
Is the festival free?
Yes. Admission to the festival is free. Food and merchandise from vendors are separate purchases.
The organizer also offers an RSVP, but the Presidio describes the event itself as free and open to all ages.
