SAN FRANCISCO — The Mission Arts Performance Project returns Saturday, Oct. 3, with a deliberately loose network of music, poetry, visual art and performances spread across the Mission.
MAPP is not a single fenced festival with one gate and one stage. The organizer describes activity in galleries, cafes, bars, taquerias, homes, public spaces, street corners and even around BART stations. That format is part of the appeal, but it also means there is not yet one complete, centralized Oct. 3 timetable.
When is MAPP in San Francisco?
The official MAPP site lists the next project date as Saturday, Oct. 3. Its event listing begins at noon, while individual venue programs can start later and run into the evening.
Is MAPP free?
Yes. MAPP describes itself as a free neighborhood arts event. Individual spaces may have capacity limits, donation requests or reservation systems, so “free” does not always mean every room can take unlimited walk-ins.
What is confirmed so far?
One independently published program is The Last Supper Party at Muddy Waters Coffee & Lounge, 521 Valencia Street, beginning at 6 p.m. The San Francisco International Arts Festival listing names poetry and music by Tureeda Ture Ade Mikell, Tony Aldarondo and Sara Biel. The listing says the program is free or donation-supported but requires a reservation.
Where does MAPP happen?
There is no single MAPP venue. The Mission-wide format means the useful way to plan is by confirmed stops rather than by one festival address. Valencia Street and nearby Mission corridors are likely starting points as venue programs emerge.
Is there a full Oct. 3 MAPP schedule?
Not centrally yet. That is why this page is being published ahead of the event. SF News Today will update this same URL as additional Oct. 3 venues publish firm times and programs rather than presenting older MAPP schedules as current.
How should you plan the night?
If you are attending a specific program, follow that venue's reservation or arrival instructions first. If you are browsing, use BART or Muni into the Mission and build a walking route around confirmed venues rather than driving from stop to stop.
