SAN FRANCISCO — Clement Street’s Autumn Moon Festival lasts four hours next Saturday. The planned street closure surrounding it is scheduled to last three times as long.
The 10th annual Richmond District Autumn Moon Festival returns Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Clement Street between 8th and 11th avenues, with food, neighborhood vendors, community groups and cultural performances.
The organizer says previous editions have drawn thousands of people. City transportation action documents also provide a useful piece of planning information that event calendars can bury: the festival setup calls for Clement Street to close much earlier than the public program begins.
When and where is the Richmond Autumn Moon Festival?
The official festival site gives the public hours as 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, on Clement Street between 8th and 11th avenues.
Admission is free. The event is organized as a neighborhood street festival rather than a ticketed performance.
Which Clement Street blocks are expected to close?
An SFMTA/ISCOTT city transportation action document calls for Clement Street between 8th and 11th avenues to close from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., including the intersections at 9th and 10th avenues as part of the setup.
That is an action document rather than a same-week final service advisory. SF News Today will update this guide if SFMTA publishes different operating hours, tow-away rules or bus changes closer to Sept. 12.
What happens at the festival?
The Richmond District Neighborhood Center describes a mix of local food, shopping, community booths, family activities and cultural performances. Last year’s edition had more than 80 vendors, and the organizer says the festival has grown into an event that draws thousands of residents and visitors.
The 2026 performance page still says the detailed stage schedule is being planned. We are therefore not filling this guide with an invented lineup or copying a prior-year schedule and presenting it as current.
Is the Richmond Autumn Moon Festival free?
Yes. There is no general admission charge. Purchases from food vendors and merchants are separate.
What is the easiest way to get there by Muni?
The Inner Richmond has several frequent east-west and north-south bus connections, and transit is likely to be easier than trying to park immediately beside a multi-block street closure.
Because SFMTA has not yet posted final festival-day reroutes, use SF News Today’s live transit page on Sept. 12 and check the agency’s service alerts before leaving.
What about parking around Clement Street?
Do not plan on using Clement Street itself between 8th and 11th avenues if the city’s current closure plan goes into effect. Nearby residential and commercial curb spaces will also face more competition than on an ordinary Saturday.
If you drive, parking several blocks away and walking into the festival is likely to be more predictable than circling the closed blocks waiting for a space to appear.
Is this the same as Chinatown’s Autumn Moon Festival?
No. San Francisco has more than one Mid-Autumn/Autumn Moon celebration. The Richmond District event is the Sept. 12 Clement Street festival. Chinatown’s larger Autumn Moon Festival is a separate event on a different weekend.
That distinction matters for searches, parking and transit: an article or social post that simply says “San Francisco Moon Festival” may be referring to a different neighborhood.
