SAN FRANCISCO — Weezer brings The Gathering tour to Chase Center next Wednesday, and one of the easiest ways to save money on the trip to Mission Bay is already included in the concert ticket.
Chase Center lists the Sept. 9 show for 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. The Shins and Silversun Pickups are the announced special guests.
What time does Weezer start at Chase Center?
Chase Center currently lists doors at 6 p.m. and the show at 7 p.m.
The venue does not publish individual set times for The Shins, Silversun Pickups and Weezer on its main event page, so a 7 p.m. ticket time should not be interpreted as a guaranteed Weezer stage time. If you want to see the opening acts, plan around the published show start.
Your Weezer ticket includes Muni
SFMTA says electronic or physical tickets for nearly all ticketed Chase Center events act as proof of payment for Muni buses and light rail for the entire event day.
The benefit excludes cable cars and lasts until the end of the service day at 2 a.m. after the event. Keep the concert ticket accessible in case a fare inspector asks for proof of payment.
The T Third goes directly to Chase Center
The UCSF/Chase Center Muni stop sits beside the arena. On event days, SFMTA can also run supplemental rail service through Mission Bay.
For BART riders coming through downtown, Powell is a useful transfer point because the Central Subway connection can carry riders toward Mission Bay without a surface bus transfer.
Coming from 16th Street BART?
Chase Center’s current event transportation guidance also uses the 78X Arena Express between 16th Street Mission BART and the arena for major events.
That can be useful for East Bay and other BART riders who would rather transfer at 16th Street than continue downtown. Check live service before leaving because supplemental event routes can change.
Should you drive?
You can, but Mission Bay parking gets expensive and constrained when an arena crowd arrives at roughly the same time. Reserved event parking is safer than assuming street parking will appear near Warriors Way.
For many ticket holders, the economics favor transit even before congestion is considered: the Muni portion of the trip has already been paid for through the event ticket.
Drivers coming from outside San Francisco can also consider parking near a BART station and finishing the trip by transit rather than trying to park beside the arena.
Getting home after the concert
The free-Muni benefit continues until the end of the service day rather than expiring when the concert ends.
For BART riders, the bigger constraint will be the final train from the transfer station you choose. Check live transit information before the encore rather than assuming daytime frequencies continue late into the night.
