SAN FRANCISCO — Nightmare on Front Street returns to the Financial District on Friday, Oct. 30, turning the Front Street Entertainment Zone into a free Halloween block party.
The event is straightforward on price and location but not on one detail people are likely to search for: the start time.
What time does Nightmare on Front Street start?
The current Eventbrite page from organizer BD+20 lists the event for 4–10 p.m.. SFVibe, which says it is presenting the event with BD+20, also lists 4–10 p.m.
But the Downtown San Francisco Partnership and Golden Gate currently show 2–10 p.m..
Because the organizer’s live ticket page says 4 p.m., SF News Today is treating 4–10 p.m. as the confirmed organizer schedule for planning purposes while flagging the discrepancy. Anyone specifically planning to arrive between 2 and 4 p.m. should recheck the organizer page on Oct. 30 rather than assuming the full program has begun.
Where is the block party?
The organizer lists 245 Front Street, with the event using Front Street between Sacramento and California streets in the Front Street Entertainment Zone.
That puts the party in the Financial District near Harrington’s, Royal Exchange and Schroeder’s. The event uses the Entertainment Zone format, which allows participating establishments to serve alcoholic beverages for outdoor consumption during authorized events.
Is Nightmare on Front Street free?
Yes. The organizer describes it as free to attend and all ages. Costumes are encouraged but not listed as an entry requirement.
Anyone who wants to consume alcohol must be 21 or older and present valid identification. The organizer also describes the event as smoke-free under San Francisco Health Code rules.
What is happening?
The 2026 listing centers on DJs, dancing, food, cocktails and costumes. SFVibe currently lists a DJ lineup including Clayton William, The Rhino, Jeff Straw with sax, Chris DN b2b Karisma and Brian Aqua.
Bikes, strollers and pets are listed as welcome on the organizer page. Normal rules of the individual bars and restaurants can still differ from the outdoor event rules.
How do you get there?
The organizer describes the site as about a four-minute walk from Embarcadero BART/Muni. For a downtown street event with alcohol service and a late finish, rail or transit is the simplest default.
If you are meeting friends, use the Front Street/Sacramento-California block as the destination rather than relying on a bar name; the party is spread through the Entertainment Zone.
Why the timing discrepancy matters
Two hours is a meaningful difference for families, workers leaving downtown and anyone coordinating dinner or transit. Rather than repeat one calendar without checking the others, this page will keep the disagreement visible until the organizer or Downtown SF aligns the listings.
