SAN FRANCISCO — BART will cancel Green Line service for the entire day Sunday, Oct. 18, while crews single-track between San Leandro and Bay Fair for vegetation-management work.

BART says riders in the work area should expect 25–30-minute delays. The single tracking is scheduled from the start of service until 6 p.m., but the Green Line cancellation lasts all day.

Sunday BART changeOct. 18 · no Green Line all day · single tracking San Leandro–Bay Fair until 6 p.m. · 25–30-minute delays expected in the work area.

Is the BART Green Line running Oct. 18?

No. BART says there will be no Green Line service for the entire day Sunday. All 50 stations remain served through other lines and transfers.

What should San Francisco riders do?

Riders from San Francisco who would normally use the Green Line toward Berryessa/North San José should take a Blue Line train and transfer to the Orange Line at Bay Fair.

East Bay riders who would normally use the Green Line for a transbay trip can use the Orange Line and transfer at Bay Fair to a Blue Line train.

How long are the delays?

BART’s advisory says riders in the affected area should expect 25–30-minute delays. The work between San Leandro and Bay Fair begins before service and is scheduled to continue until 6 p.m.

Because the Green Line remains cancelled after the single-tracking window ends, riders should still plan on the Bay Fair transfer later in the evening.

Why is BART doing the work?

BART says crews will manage vegetation in the trackway between San Leandro and Bay Fair that could affect safe and reliable service.

Will BART add capacity?

Yes. BART says Orange and Blue Line trains will be extended from six cars to eight cars throughout the day to provide additional capacity for riders who would normally use the Green Line.

How should riders plan Sunday trips?

Give yourself at least the extra delay BART is forecasting, plus time for the Bay Fair transfer. Before leaving, check BART’s current service advisories and trip planner because real-time conditions can change.

SF News Today’s live city dashboard and transit page can also help surface active alerts, but BART’s own planner remains the authority for the exact itinerary.
