Why ZIP-level?
The nearest stop is not always the fastest way across San Francisco.
A person somewhere in a ZIP may be better off walking several blocks to a high-frequency Muni corridor, rail station or useful transfer point than boarding the geographically nearest bus. This tool is designed around that practical city logic.
It does not ask for GPS. Your ZIP, transit-pass choice and route preference are enough to build a consistent local view. Detailed directions and live-arrival adjustments open only when you ask for a route.
What we include
A few useful places, not every listing in town.
Grocery includes supermarkets and substantial neighborhood food stores. Costco appears in Grocery even when it is outside the ZIP. Convenience stores and gas-station stores are kept separate, pharmacies do not fill grocery slots, and laundry combines self-service laundromats with wash-and-fold services in one section.
Restaurant results are intentionally limited to five: two higher-end choices and three more affordable options. Business hours and closure signals are refreshed through the SF News Today crawler and may still change between checks.
