SAN FRANCISCO — World of Dumplings returns to the Ferry Building on Sunday, Oct. 25, with a six-hour food festival built around dumplings from different culinary traditions, plus eating contests, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment and family activities.

The organizer, Asians Are Strong, lists the 2026 event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1 Ferry Building. Admission is free.

That 5 p.m. closing time is worth noting because some third-party event calendars are showing a later end time. SF News Today is using the organizer's current 11 a.m.–5 p.m. listing.

Is World of Dumplings free?

Yes. The organizer describes World of Dumplings as a free, family-friendly event.

Free admission does not mean the food itself is free. Restaurant vendors sell their food and beverages separately, so visitors who want to taste several vendors should budget for purchases inside the festival.

The organizer provides an RSVP page. The event is promoted as free public admission rather than a paid-ticket festival.

What food will be at World of Dumplings?

The organizer says more than 25 restaurant vendors will participate and describes the festival broadly enough to include dumplings from multiple cuisines — including Chinese wontons, Japanese gyoza, Nepalese momos, Turkish mantı, Italian ravioli and Spanish empanadas.

A final organizer-confirmed 2026 restaurant roster is not yet presented on the main listing in a form SF News Today can independently verify. If a particular vendor is the reason you are going, check the organizer's latest lineup before the event.

What else happens besides eating?

The official 2026 listing includes:

  • dumpling eating contests;
  • cooking demonstrations;
  • a beer garden;
  • dumpling trivia;
  • raffle prizes;
  • family activities;
  • performances and live music.

The organizer also says additional elements are still to be announced, so the program can expand before Oct. 25.

What are the correct 2026 hours?

11 a.m.–5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25.

That is the time on the organizer's current Eventbrite listing. If you see a 6 p.m. closing time on an event calendar, it does not match the organizer's present listing.

For a food festival with more than 25 restaurant vendors, arriving closer to opening gives you more time to browse before popular items or individual vendors run low.

How do you get to the Ferry Building?

The Ferry Building is at the foot of Market Street on the Embarcadero and is one of San Francisco's easiest major event locations to reach without a car.

The Ferry Building Marketplace says Embarcadero BART is one block away, Muni buses and trains stop nearby, and the F Market & Wharves streetcar stops directly in front of the building. Ferry service also arrives at the terminal.

For visitors coming from elsewhere in the Bay Area, BART or ferry service can avoid the need to search for waterfront parking during a large Sunday event.

Should you drive?

You can, but the event sits in one of the busiest parts of the Embarcadero. Nearby garages and metered spaces serve the Ferry Building and Financial District, but a free food festival can produce a concentrated arrival period.

Transit is likely to be the simpler option for many visitors. Check the SF News Today transit desk for same-day service changes. If you drive, allow time to park away from the building and walk.

Is it family-friendly?

Yes. The organizer explicitly describes the festival as family-friendly and lists family activities alongside food, contests, music and performances.

The beer garden is only one part of the program; the event itself is not presented as an adults-only festival.
