St. Jude Pilgrimage at a glanceSaturday, Oct. 24 · 10 a.m. start · about 2.2 miles · arrival around noon · bilingual Mass at 12:30 p.m. · parking only at St. Dominic’s.

SAN FRANCISCO — The annual St. Jude Pilgrimage crosses San Francisco Saturday morning, beginning at 10 a.m. at the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi and ending at St. Dominic’s Church, home of the Shrine of St. Jude.

The organizer says the walk is about 2.2 miles and should reach St. Dominic’s at roughly noon. A bilingual pilgrimage Mass follows at 12:30 p.m., with a blessing using St. Jude relics after Mass.

What is the St. Jude pilgrimage route?

SFMTA’s dedicated event advisory says rolling traffic closures will follow Columbus Avenue, Mason Street, Pacific Avenue, Van Ness Avenue, Pine Street and Steiner Street as the procession moves from North Beach toward St. Dominic’s.

The agency lists rolling closures on Columbus between Vallejo and Mason; Mason between Columbus and Pacific; Pacific between Mason and Van Ness; Van Ness between Pacific and Pine; Pine between Van Ness and Steiner; and Steiner between Pine and Bush.

Which Muni routes could be delayed?

SFMTA says minor delays are possible on the 8 Bayshore, 12 Folsom/Pacific, 30 Stockton, 49 Van Ness/Mission and Powell/Mason Cable Car as the procession crosses their paths.

A 12 Folsom/Pacific reroute is contingency-only. If SFMTA activates it, the agency says it could run from about 9:30 a.m. to no later than noon, with Pacific Avenue stops temporarily missed and Jackson Street used as the alternate corridor.

There are two conflicting SFMTA route descriptions

SFMTA’s broader weekly advisory currently describes a St. Philip’s Church start and a longer Mission-to-Western Addition route. But the Shrine of St. Jude’s 2026 event page and SFMTA’s dedicated Oct. 24 travel update both say this year’s procession starts at the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi in North Beach.

SF News Today is therefore using the organizer’s current 2026 page and SFMTA’s event-specific advisory for the route above. Riders should still check live SFMTA alerts Saturday morning in case operations change.

Where can pilgrims park?

The organizer says parking is available only at St. Dominic’s Church. Buses will run from St. Dominic’s to the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi from 7 to 9 a.m. only, before the 10 a.m. start.

What time is the Mass?

The bilingual pilgrimage Mass is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at St. Dominic’s. The Shrine says Fr. Elias Guadalupe Ford, O.P., will celebrate the Mass, followed by a special blessing with relics of St. Jude.
