SAN FRANCISCO — Bearrison Street Fair returns to SoMa on Saturday, Oct. 17, with six hours of community programming on Harrison Street and a much longer traffic-and-transit footprint around the event.

The organizer says admission to Bearrison is free. Optional donations and event extras are separate from basic entry.

What time is Bearrison Street Fair?

The street fair runs from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.

Anyone driving or taking Muni through SoMa should pay attention to the operational hours rather than only the fair hours. SFMTA says street closures begin at 6 a.m. and remain in place until 9 p.m., while the affected bus reroutes begin at 5 a.m..

Where is Bearrison?

The event is centered on Harrison Street in SoMa. SFMTA lists the closure footprint as:

  • Harrison Street between 10th Street and Division Street
  • 11th Street between Folsom Street and Division Street
  • 12th Street between Bernice Street and Harrison Street

Which Muni routes will reroute?

Three routes are scheduled to reroute from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.:

  • 9 San Bruno
  • 12 Folsom/Pacific
  • 27 Bryant

Those transit changes begin seven hours before the fair opens and continue three hours after it ends, so riders should not assume normal service simply because they are traveling outside noon–6 p.m.

Is Bearrison free?

Yes. Bearrison’s official material says attendance is free. The organization also offers donation and supporter options that help fund the event, but those are not a requirement to enter the street fair.

What happens at Bearrison?

The organizer describes Bearrison as an adult LGBTQ+ community event built around inclusion and body positivity. Current event material includes food and community vendors as well as activities such as the fair’s deadlift competition.

Because individual programming can change as the date approaches, people traveling for a particular activity should recheck the organizer’s schedule before leaving.

What is the easiest way to get there?

Transit is likely to be easier than driving into the closure footprint, but the three rerouted bus lines mean the closest normal stop may change. BART riders can approach from Civic Center or 16th Street and connect by Muni or walk depending on the part of the fair they want to reach.

If you are driving, do not count on curb access inside the closure area during the 6 a.m.–9 p.m. window.

Why publish this a week early?

The practical questions — hours, admission, street closures and Muni changes — are already answerable now. Publishing those details before the event gives attendees time to plan rather than discover a reroute after they arrive in SoMa.
